I wasn’t sure if I wanted to use this as a flip up shelf or to hang laundry- after using it I vote for hanging laundry. It holds so much! I doubt I’ve made it to 60 pounds, but I definitely have had it loaded with 40+ and it didn’t strain it a bit.Installation/setup was quicker than I expected, and the instructions were clear. It was a little tricky to do without a second set of hands, so I got some help. It works great in a laundry room with limited space! I almost think using it as a shelf as I’d originally considered would be a waste. It feels sturdy and durable, and consistently folds up or down without a hassle. I love it for drying, it really holds a ton at once, 5 stars for me.

Very impressive and sturdy clothes drying rack. Even though there is hardware to install it into a hollow sheet rock wall or even a solid (concrete?) wall, I used the 8 wood screws to secure it to the wood studs behind my sheet rock wall. Luckily, I had a stud finder to help me locate them. Once you locate the inside & outside edges of the studs 32″ apart, the handy template became very useful in placing the drill holes, especially since they give you some Post-It Note like patches to temporarily stick the template to the wall. I did not use the cute little 1″ level included in the box but rather used a long level to position it correctly. Once you get your holes for the brackets drilled, take down the template. If you attach a wall bracket and continue to assemble per their instructions, you will find this is a 2-person job. Once up on the wall, I found the far outside rod holes in the two brackets tended to splay to the outside so that the rod could not tightly seat into both brackets…it was coming up short and falling out. Maybe my wall was slightly bowed? Anyway, on top of the brackets just above the rod insertion holes are white machine screws which I thought you could tighten onto the rod to hold it. Nope, too short. I just happened to have two longer machine screws (brown) that fit the same hole and were long enough to reach the rod. Screwed them in and it worked (see brown screws in the rack’s down position). Getting the rods to stay while screwing in the 2nd wall bracket was a bear. Finally, after going ahead and affixing the 2nd wall bracket to the wall, I took some blue painters tape and secured the rods to the long supports and was able to slide the secured rods & side supports up onto the wall brackets. Then I quickly inserted the pins that allows it to hang and pivot on the wall. I can tell you that once it was up and fully secured, it was a delight to use. When not in use, you can lift it up to lock against the wall in a high position or lower it to a downward hanging position against the wall. The two rods are nicely spaced apart and the little wire binder clips do a nice job holding light articles to dry. If hung properly, I have no doubt this clothes drying rack can hold up to 60 lbs of wet clothing. And it folds up like a dream. I like it but it was challenging to install.
